Monthly update for November 2020

Listen Score part 2 & new landing pages

Hi there!

This is the 38th full month (3 YEARS and 2 months) that I worked on Listen Notes full-time. Hope you are doing well and staying safe!

Product updates

1, Some followup development with Listen Score, a metric that shows the estimated popularity of a podcast compared to all other rss-based public podcasts in the world on a scale from 0 to 100. For example, added Listen Score to API response data.

2, Some infra improvements, e.g., upgrade a few EC2 instances, thanks to traffic growth. First time to sell old reserved instances on AWS marketplace :)

3, New pricing for Premium Membership. btw, ProfitWell has some great resources on pricing.

4, Added a data fields page: https://www.listennotes.com/datasets/fields/

5, A bunch of improvements on API pages, e.g., API Home, Docs, Pricing…

6, Changed default sort order of episodes on a podcast page to “Oldest to Newest” for “serial”-type podcast.

7, New landing page for Listen Later playlists: https://www.listennotes.com/listen/

Product updates

Posted Listen API to Hacker News and randomly got on the front page :)

2020 is a great year for podcasts :) listennotes.com/podcast-stats/ In 2005, iTunes launched a podcast directory with 8000 podcasts. In 1994, Yahoo Directory had 2000 websites. In Nov. 2020, Listen Notes indexes 88 million episodes. In Dec. 1998, Google indexed 60 million web pages.
